Overnight Nurse Supervisor (RN)

Job Title

Supervise and deliver quality psychiatric and chemical dependency nursing care to all client populations at Newport News Behavioral Health Center.

Responsibilities Shift: 7PM-7AM (Rotational Weekends)

Location: Newport News, VA

Job Summary: Supervise and deliver quality psychiatric and chemical dependency nursing care to all client populations. To serve actively and constructively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, supporting the facility philosophy of nursing care; to ensure safety and well being of each client. Provide administrative support to staff during after-hour hospital operations. Schedules and monitors the facility nursing staff thereby securing nursing staff to client ratio.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reviewing all variance reports, determining methods of correction, and communicating pertinent findings to Administration and Performance Improvement personnel.
• Collaboration with nursing and community counseling staff to ensure implementation of the facility's designated program.
• Ongoing collaboration with Department Directors and/or other facility designated disciplines to ensure proper medical/technical operations.
• Represent and/or ensure representation of nursing services in order to complete all required nursing functions in the weekly multidisciplinary Treatment Team Staff Meetings.
• Maintains familiarity with client population treatment goals to ensure and assist in the delivery of care.

Qualifications:

• Current RN licensure.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Experience in Psychiatric Nursing desirable.
• Preferred 1 year experience working and/or treating adolescents.
• Able to communicate effectively in English through written and verbal means.
• Ability to effectively supervise and/or direct the implementation of individualized nursing care.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluation of situations and/or making nursing decisions.
