About the Role:

Golf Superintendent

We are seeking an experienced Golf Superintendent to oversee the Clubhouse Grounds & Landscaping, and Practice Facilities at the Club’s two physical locations. The position will manage a team of six to eight employees and report to the Directory of Agronomy.

The Golf Superintendent’s focus will be on overseeing all elements of upkeep around the Clubhouses and at the Practice Facilities, including mowing, trimming, pesticide/fungicide applications, fertility, water management, pruning, removals/planting, annual/perennial flower maintenance, weed control, planter boxes, and scheduling of all maintenance practices and necessary outside contractor work. This position is responsible for maintaining consistently impressive grounds and landscaping environment, along with top-level conditions at the practice facilities.

The Golf Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendents on best practices and a streamlined schedule for equipment usage & upkeep. A strong collaborative environment between the Superintendents will be fostered to achieve total agronomical success club wide.

The Club is committed to the success of the individual selected for this position. The Golf Superintendent will work closely with an experienced Director of Agronomy and a Golf Course Maintenance leadership team that is dedicated to providing ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily care and presentation of all clubhouse grounds, landscaped areas, and practice facilities , ensuring they consistently meet the defined standards.
• Develop and implement comprehensive turf, landscape, and grounds-management programs for lawns, ornamental & colorful plantings, trees, shrubs, common areas, and practice facility turf.
• Develop seasonal improvement and enhancement plans
• Manage turf health and playability through effective mowing, irrigation, fertilization, cultivation, pest management, aerification, overseeding, and other cultural practices appropriate to seasonal conditions.
• Maintain practice facilities to a high standard of quality and consistency , including practice tees, floor & targets, short-game areas, putting surfaces, and associated turf.
• Maintain exceptional attention to detail and visual presentation
• Establish and maintain agronomic standards and maintenance schedules
• Lead, train, schedule, and supervise grounds and landscape staff , providing clear expectations, hands-on training, and accountability for daily work.
• Oversee equipment use and maintenance, ensuring grounds equipment is properly maintained, safely operated, and available to support departmental needs.
• Manage irrigation systems and water usage , coordinating inspections, repairs, scheduling, and preventative maintenance while promoting efficient and responsible water management.
• Coordinate with other club leadership, golf operations, maintenance personnel, and outside contractors on projects, events, facility improvements, and seasonal priorities.
• Support the club's special events and member activities , ensuring grounds and practice facilities are prepared to the appropriate standard before, during, and after events.
• Perform regular inspections of all assigned areas and proactively address maintenance needs before they become visible or operational concerns.
• Represent the club professionally , demonstrating a service-oriented approach and understanding that the quality of the grounds and practice facilities is an important component of the overall member experience.

Candidate Qualifications

• Minimum 10–15 years of progressive experience in turfgrass, landscape, grounds management, horticulture, golf course maintenance, or a related field; private-club experience is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Landscape Management, Plant Science, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent professional experience and industry certifications may be considered.
• Strong knowledge of turfgrass management , including mowing practices, fertility, irrigation, aerification, cultivation, overseeding, soil management, integrated pest management, and disease identification.
• Experience managing high-quality practice facilities and landscapes , with an understanding of elevated presentation standards.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience , with the ability to recruit, train, schedule, motivate, and hold team members accountable to established standards.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills , with the ability to prioritize daily maintenance requirements while managing seasonal programs, projects, events, and long-term improvements.
• Working knowledge of irrigation systems , including scheduling, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, water conservation, and coordination of irrigation repairs.
• Knowledge of landscape horticulture , including the care and maintenance of trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, planting beds, ornamental areas, and other clubhouse landscapes.
• Understanding of chemical and fertilizer applications , including safe handling, application practices, storage, recordkeeping, and compliance with applicable regulations.
• Strong equipment knowledge , including safe operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of turf and landscape equipment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills , with the ability to work effectively with club leadership, golf operations, fellow managers, vendors, contractors, and staff.
• Member-service mindset and professional demeanor , recognizing that the appearance and condition of the club grounds directly contribute to the member experience.
• High level of attention to detail , pride in workmanship, and commitment to maintaining consistently exceptional standards of appearance and presentation.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions regarding turf, landscape, irrigation, staffing, and daily maintenance priorities.

Salary and Benefits

The starting salary for this position is based upon experience and expected to be in the $90,000-$100,000 range. The Club offers an excellent benefits package, including association membership and supports continuing education.
