Locate Technician

Overview Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is a key component to ensure that the area is compliant with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations. Understanding of performing these tasks using multiple methods is required. Technicians will be dispatched to locate and verify for utility customers. Technicians can work independently or in a team environment, under the supervision of an assigned supervisor. This job requires focus, skill, and the use of machinery and/or tools. GridHawk LLC is an equal opportunity employer. Responsibilities Locate underground facilities by using a transmitter and connecting to buried facilities or pedestals Work across various terrains and weather conditions in construction zones, residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary Demonstrate professional and efficient work practices while communicating with customers, co-employees, and third parties Communicate with management, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage-free environment Demonstrate knowledge of technology and tools needed for locating Collaborate with others in a supervised team environment Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) State-issued driver's license Ability to problem-solve and read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints Vacuum truck experience (preferred) Ability to lift over 50 lbs Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day Excellent communication skills Pass a Background screening (no violations within the last 5 years) Pass a DOT drug test Requirements & Benefits All employees are assigned proper technology and work vehicles to perform duties Tools provided to achieve objectives: company vehicle, laptop, and smartphone; all personal protective equipment Benefits for full-time employees include health, dental, life, disability, vision, and 401(k) (matched by the company); paid holidays and PTO after 30 days Job Details Job Type: Full-time Schedule: 10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, on call, weekends as needed Location: On the road Education: High school or equivalent (required) Experience: Computer skills (1 year, preferred); Utility locating (1 year, preferred) License/Certification: Driver’s License (required) Note: This description reflects the responsibilities and qualifications for the Locate Technician role and may include general information about benefits and employment terms.
