Pediatric Occupational Therapist

As an Early Support Services Provider – Occupational Therapist within the A Step Ahead program, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality services to infants and toddlers who have developmental delays or disabilities, as well as providing support to their families. You will work closely with a transdisciplinary team to assess needs, develop individualized service plans, and implement strategies to promote the overall development and well-being of the children and their families. You will provide services in accordance with your discipline and training specific licensure/certification; ASAPC policy and procedure; Department of Children, Youth, and Families Early Support for Infants and Toddlers policies and guidance; Pierce County contract and technical assistance; and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act: Part C. Pay Range: $35-54 per hour depending on experience Full Time: Exempt Position. Work schedule: Monday through Friday. Location: ASAPC Office, Puyallup WA Benefits Eligible including: medical/dental/vision/life insurance Simple IRA retirement plan with up to 3% company match mileage reimbursement 13 paid holidays approximately 4 weeks paid time off (dependent on actual hours worked) paid sick and safe leave continuing education leave continuing education funds Potential for bonuses Essential function & tasks Key Responsibilities Ensure services are delivered consistently with strategies that are family–centered, relationship-based utilizing evidence-based strategies and coaching Provide direct services to infants and toddlers in a natural environment, including homes, childcare centers, and community settings Implement developmentally appropriate ASA (ESS) activities to assigned caseload including direct services, evaluations, screening, consultations, resource provision, IFSPs, etc. Complete monthly service delivery in accordance with each child’s IFSP, including frequency and duration minimum documented Self-schedule in alignment with caseload and workload requirements Educate and empower families to become active participants in their child's intervention and advocate for their needs. Demonstrates sensitivity to linguistic, cultural, social, economic, individual and role differences among persons and families served Continuous monitoring of child’s overall development utilizing ongoing assessment tools, observation, caregiver report, and informed clinical opinion Adhere to all agency and program policy and procedure, etc. to ensure compliance, timeliness, and accurate data tracking Participate in agency and contract compliance efforts including audits, observation, training, and quality reviews as requested Participate in team meetings, one-on-ones/check ins, reflective supervision, trainings, team discussions, and professional development activities to share information, problem solve and enhance service delivery Communicate with colleagues and supervisors via chat, text, email or phone within 24 hours of receipt, elevate concerns to supervisor immediately Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date communication notes with family and/or outside providers Prepare all paperwork, documentation and data entry in compliance with regulatory requirements and agency policy Maintain established work schedule, is punctual, keeps appointments, is willing to adapt schedule to meet unexpected needs and changes, uses time effectively Use independent judgment and discretion in setting daily priorities to complete tasks and meet deadlines Create a unique and positive experience with any interactions on behalf of the agency Present a positive and professional image for the organization Represent the organization’s mission and values Manage and maintain accurate and thorough data capturing to maintain compliance via physical and digital filing systems Ensure positive and consistent communication Collaborate with other staff and community partners Work with sensitive information with discretion to maintain confidentiality and security and ensures compliance with privacy policies and regulations Engage and participate in all agency trainings and team events Organizational Development Support in the story telling of our work to community and potential supporters Fully engage and implement given responsibilities included in organization’s Fund Development Plan, goals and vision Support in the recruitment and stewardship of organization’s donor base and expansion of our mission Participate agency events, playgroups, and fieldtrips as needed Assist with related ASA program tasks as workload capacity fluctuates Additional duties as assigned in support of the organization Qualifications Degree in Education, Therapy, Social Work, Human Services or a related field. Experience working with young children and/or families highly preferred. Certified, licensed and registered in the State of Washington, as applicable to position- OT. Ability to obtain and maintain ESIT Credential specific to discipline (Practitioner). Pass Washington State pre-employment background check, as required. Reliable transportation with valid Driver’s License and proof of Auto Insurance via auto insurance declaration/binder. Skills Proficient skills in MS Word, Excel, Teams, and web-based databases. Able to gain proficiency in computer software commonly used for documentation and report preparation. Knowledge and adherence to HIPAA/FERPA legislation and other patient privacy laws. Detail oriented and able to maintain consistency on repetitive tasks. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment Able to collaborate and share responsibilities with projects and tasks. Professional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate and partner with diverse audiences. Able to clearly communicate with children, caregivers, community partners and colleagues. Comfort with public speaking, event facilitation, and representing the organization externally. A Step Ahead in Pierce County is housed in a wheelchair accessible building with wheelchair accessible bathrooms. While ASAPC is a fragrance-free agency, there may be scents in the building, in family homes or in the community. Access to reliable transportation will be required for travel to office and home visits. Working conditions vary between computer work and home visits.
