Mechanical Engineer/Durham, North Carolina

Becton Dickinson seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and test pharmaceutical equipment and systems. The role involves applying engineering principles to solve complex problems while ensuring product quality and regulatory compliance within a cross-functional team environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems using CAD and FEA tools
- Conduct mechanical analysis including stress, strain, and thermal optimization studies
- Develop test plans, analyze data, and prepare reports validating product performance
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and failure mode analysis
- Support manufacturing transfer activities including process and fixture design
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years mechanical engineering experience in medical device or regulated industries
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks
- Experience with FEA software and finite element analysis principles
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design, material science, and manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability for complex engineering challenges
- Experience with ISO 13485, FDA QSR, or similar design control and quality systems preferred
