Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical-Surgical ICU position in Alexandria, LA, requiring active LA or compact RN licensure and at least 1 year of critical care experience.

Job Details

• Mixed cardiac and medical ICU setting (Med-Surgical ICU A),
• Patient population includes DKA, acute respiratory failure, MIs, CABGs, and ventilator-dependent patients,
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1 for ICU patients and 4:1 for IMCU patients,
• Night shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM,
• Every other weekend required,
• No on-call requirements,
• No floating required,
• 13-week contract,

Job Requirements

• Active LA RN license or current compact state RN license required,
• BLS certification required (AHA),
• ACLS certification required (AHA),
• Minimum 1 year of critical care experience preferred; new graduates will be considered,
• BSN preferred,
• All certifications must be current and unexpired,
• SSN required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation,
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol and monitors for side effects and effectiveness,
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families,
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided,
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers,
• New hires must attend orientation within the first 30 days and complete both organizational and Critical Care department-specific competency validations,
• Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility,
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates,
