Fiscal Technician

Job Title: Fiscal Technician Pay Rate: $20.00 Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday Location: Portsmouth, VA Job Duties Provide administrative and financial support to the Public Utilities Department. Process vouchers, purchase orders, invoices, payments, and vendor information. Prepare journal entries, budget transfers, inventory control reports, and contract status reports. Process and document customer refund requests. Create requisitions, change orders, travel vouchers, and financial documentation. Communicate with employees and vendors regarding policies, procedures, and financial transactions. Assist with audit and financial reporting documentation, including CAFR support. Purchase office and departmental supplies and monitor purchase order requests. Perform data entry, maintain spreadsheets, and retrieve financial information. Provide back-up support to other fiscal staff and assist with additional departmental needs as assigned. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years of bookkeeping, accounting, fiscal support, or related experience. Experience processing invoices, purchase orders, payments, and financial records. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and office administration practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and spreadsheet management. Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple priorities and deadlines. Experience working with financial reporting, vendor management, and database systems preferred.
