Schedule: This lead position position will primarily work weekdays with flexibility needed to cover evenings, nights, and weekends based on patient and operational needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. • Provides direct leadership, oversight, and accountability for all inpatient pharmacy technicians , ensuring technician work is accurate, timely, compliant, and aligned with departmental policies, regulatory standards, and organizational expectations.
   • Serves as the primary lead responsible for technician performance management , including daily supervision, workload oversight, coaching, performance feedback, issue resolution, and participation in corrective and progressive discipline processes in collaboration with pharmacy leadership.
   • Coordinates, assigns, and prioritizes technician staffing and workflow across all inpatient pharmacy operations to ensure uninterrupted medication preparation, dispensing, and distribution throughout the hospital.
   • Ensures all technician activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations , accreditation standards, medication safety requirements, and pharmacy policies and procedures.
   • Oversees and performs medication order processing activities , ensuring technician work is accurate, complete, and prepared for pharmacist verification in accordance with established workflows.
   • Oversees and assists with the preparation, packaging, labeling, and distribution of medications , including unit-dose medications, sterile and non-sterile compounded products, and automated dispensing cabinet (ADC) replenishment under pharmacist supervision.
   • Leads onboarding, training, competency assessment, and ongoing development of pharmacy technicians , serving as a subject matter expert for pharmacy systems, automation, and operational procedures.
   • Monitors technician productivity, quality, and compliance , identifying performance gaps, implementing remediation plans, and escalating issues to pharmacy management as appropriate.
   • Oversees medication inventory management activities , including ordering, receiving, storage, replenishment, expiration monitoring, recall management, and waste reduction throughout the inpatient pharmacy and ADCs.
   • Ensures compliance with controlled substance handling, documentation, and discrepancy resolution , supporting audits, inspections, and regulatory requirements.
   • Coordinates and supports medication shortage management efforts , including inventory conservation strategies, alternative sourcing, and communication of supply issues to pharmacists, nursing units, and leadership.
   • Utilizes and oversees the effective use of pharmacy information systems, electronic health records, automation, and dispensing technologies , ensuring technicians are properly trained and systems are used safely and efficiently.
   • Troubleshoots and resolves technician-related operational, inventory, automation, and medication distribution issues , escalating concerns to pharmacists or pharmacy leadership when necessary.
   • Maintains oversight of pharmacy documentation, records, and quality assurance activities , ensuring technician compliance with documentation standards and audit readiness.
   • Leads and supports technician participation in departmental quality improvement, patient safety, and operational efficiency initiatives , fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
   • Serves as a primary liaison between pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, nursing units, and other departments , facilitating effective communication and timely resolution of medication-related operational concerns.
   • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Pharmacy Director, pharmacists, or other pharmacy and organizational leaders to support departmental operations, regulatory compliance, and organizational priorities.

Qualifications:

Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) credential required

1+ year(s) of inpatient experience

High School diploma or equivalent

Bilingual: Spanish/English preferred
