IT Support Specialist

Position Information Department: 0570 - UTS Help Desk and Desktop Services Position Number: 989155 Requisition No: S02789 Employee Group/Grade: AP Band P Work Schedule: Full Time (40 hrs weekly) Shift: Monday – Friday, 8-5 Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $66,512 annually. Position Purpose Analyze, develop, coordinate and implement desktop and notebook installations and desktop security practices. Provide campus-wide support to students, faculty, and staff for issues including email, operating systems, network connectivity, applications, and classroom technology. Conduct technical troubleshooting, system changes, and upgrades, faculty and staff technical training, and classroom technology support to the university community, in support of teaching and learning. Analyze departmental software and hardware needs, recommend purchases, maintain internal knowledge base, construct and perform training on new or changing processes. Provide high‑level backup support to all distributed technology support staff across the university. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field. Two years of experience with computer hardware, Macintosh, Linux, and Windows operating systems, applications, and peripherals. Apple Certified Support Professional certification. Knowledge of operating system security. Ability to diagnose and resolve problems remotely based on customer information. Experience diagnosing LAN/desktop issues on campus and in enterprise locations. Excellent organizational, analytical, oral, and written communication skills. Valid driver’s license acceptable to the University’s insurance carrier. Desired Qualifications Apple Certified Technical Coordinator and/or Microsoft certifications. Flexibility, self‑driven learning of new technologies. Experience handling difficult technical situations. Understanding of the university environment (plus).
