Senior Financial Analyst (San Diego / Hybrid)

Senior Financial Analyst supporting R&D finance operations at a genomics company. Provides financial partnership across R&D functions, manages planning cycles, analyzes performance, and develops insights to support resource decisions for operating expense, headcount, and capital investments.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted financial partnerships with R&D and Finance leadership teams while maintaining appropriate financial discipline
• Manage annual planning, quarterly forecasting, monthly close, and recurring reporting for assigned R&D portfolio areas
• Analyze operating expense, headcount, capital expenditure, and purchase orders; identify variances and recommend improvements
• Develop clear narratives translating complex R&D activity and financial trade-offs into actionable insights for leadership
• Coordinate capital planning activities including project analysis, equipment timing, depreciation recognition, and cost tracking

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
• Minimum 5 years professional experience in finance, or 3 years with relevant master's degree
• Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong financial acumen, analytical rigor, and business judgment
• Ability to work independently in matrixed environment with limited day-to-day direction
• Residence in San Diego area with ability to commute 2-3 days per week
