Senior Staff, Technical Designer - Gameplay Systems

What You'll Do Epic Games is looking for a talented and experienced Senior Staff, Technical Designer to join our team, focusing on gameplay systems. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of core gameplay systems, ensuring a cohesive and engaging player experience. You will collaborate closely with various teams to translate design vision into technical realities, driving innovation and quality across our projects. In this role, you will Design, prototype, and implement core gameplay systems using Unreal Engine and scripting tools. Lead the technical design and iteration of gameplay features, from concept to release. Collaborate with engineers, artists, and other designers to define technical requirements and ensure smooth integration of systems. Develop and maintain clear documentation for all gameplay systems. Mentor junior designers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and innovation. Analyze player feedback and data to identify areas for improvement and drive iterative design changes. Contribute to the overall strategic vision of gameplay systems and player progression. Work on a variety of systems, including but not limited to, PvP, PvE, competitive, social, economy, and metagame design. What we're looking for 8+ years of experience in game development as a Technical Designer or similar role, with a strong focus on gameplay systems. Expertise in Unreal Engine and its Blueprint scripting system. Proven ability to design and implement complex gameplay mechanics. Deep understanding of player experience, player progression, and game economy principles. Experience with a wide range of game genres and system types (e.g., PvP, PvE, social, competitive, metagame). Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. A passion for making and playing games.
