Position Maintenance/Construction Technician III (S) – Position No. 60057696, Grade NC09. Agency: Adult Correction Division COO – OPS – Institutions Operations. Job Summary This position reports to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women. The role involves supervisory work or highly skilled work in the general maintenance, repair, and construction of buildings, related equipment, and plumbing, heating/cooling, and electrical systems. Evening and weekend work is required. Key Responsibilities Perform work at the journey level in a mechanical trade with experience in at least one or more other trade areas. Review facility conditions to identify areas requiring ongoing preventive maintenance and continuous repair of water/piping systems throughout the facility. Apply extensive knowledge of pneumatic mixing valves, domestic water systems, non‑potable water systems, heating/cooling piping, and boiler. Replace and repair commodes, sinks, water coolers, water heaters, garbage disposals, dishwashers, shower valves, water faucets, flush valves, and other related fixtures and equipment. Supervise skilled, semi‑skilled, and unskilled labor (including offenders) to assist in completing assigned tasks and provide support to other staff members performing trade skills during preventive maintenance or other duties assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications High school diploma or GED and at least two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Documented working knowledge of commercial and/or industrial maintenance (preferred). Current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician is required if the position requires such qualifications as specified by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F. Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $41,206.00 – $72,113.00.
