Facility CFO – Behavioral Health Bettendorf, Iowa About the Job Purpose Statement: The Facility CFO is an integral part of the senior leadership team and is expected to participate in the financial and functional decision‑making processes necessary for the successful attainment of the facility’s operational and financial goals. The CFO is accountable for overall financial operations and is responsible for all aspects of day‑to‑day fiscal management of the facility. Roles and Responsibilities Ensure monthly financial statements are completed timely and accurately. Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly in compliance with company policies and standards, identifying and correcting any outstanding variances. Prepare corporate required reports (Monthly Operating Report, Monthly Certifications, Corporate Disclosures, Forecasts) timely and accurately. Maintain all accounting and business office policies and required internal controls to facilitate a clean audit with no material audit adjustments or deficiencies. Ensure all approval processes are in place. Direct the operations of the Revenue Cycle to ensure accounts receivable are collected timely and uncompensated care is kept to a minimum. Strive to achieve goals for cash collections and AR days, reducing bad debt and denials, and routinely review revenue cycle metrics to proactively identify and address issues. Ensure Front End Revenue Cycle processes are in place, including 100% insurance verification, proper patient portion determination, approval of discounts or charity, and logging of upfront collections. Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and managed care reimbursement methodologies to ensure accurate facility payment and accurate revenue deductions. Facilitate preparation of any required cost reports. Supervise Accounting, Patient Accounting, Health Information Management, Materials Management and other departments as assigned by the CEO. Lead a team of highly engaged members through hiring, orientation, performance assessment, coaching, scheduling, and motivation to meet departmental goals and ensure efficient operation. Ensure compliance with Group Purchasing contract and monitor purchases to keep supply costs within budgeted levels. Prepare the annual operating budget, participate in the annual strategic planning process, and provide ongoing variance analysis. Prepare annual capital budgets and Capital Equipment Requests, ensuring assets and related depreciation are recorded accurately. Provide financial leadership and guidance to facility managers; train managers on financial matters and provide routine feedback on performance. Provide financial expertise in planning new services, including preparation of pro‑formas. Partner with the CEO, ensuring open communication, positive interaction, proper staffing, and productivity goal attainment. Participate in managed care contracting and other business development activities to maximize net revenue. Approve or deny all computer access privileges (SAFs) and ensure access termination for terminated employees. Leadership Functions Identify and prioritize important issues, including those set by leadership. Collaborate with department leaders and corporate executive leaders as needed. Communicate instructions, expectations, and timelines clearly and concisely. Manage staff scheduling to maintain productivity while curtailing unnecessary overtime and excessive work hours. Maintain accountability expectations for self and staff in all job performance areas. Engage staff in quality and safety basics to ensure sustained compliance. Identify staff educational needs and ensure they are addressed with attendance of education programs. Hold staff accountable for non‑compliance, safety concerns, attendance, policy violations, behavior, and code of conduct adherence. Education/Experience/Skill Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business‑related field required; Master’s degree preferred. Five or more years of financial management experience (CFO, ACFO, Director of Finance, Controller) in a healthcare setting required; previous behavioral healthcare experience highly preferred. Previous experience with a proprietary healthcare system highly preferred. Proven financial analysis skills and strong technical accounting and finance skills. Experience with IT and proficiency in software packages including Excel and Word. Licenses/Designations/Certifications CPA preferred. Work Location Onsite; not a remote position.
