Caterpillar’s BCP division is hiring for Senior Supplier Development Engineer in CMDC. Role Summary In this role you will assess supplier quality and ensure that all products are defect‑free and comply with manufacturing specifications and legal standards. What You’ll Do (Job Duties) Closely work with suppliers and internal partners to develop quality products for production and service Build long‑lasting relationships with suppliers and internal partners through open collaboration Monitor and recover supplier warranty Work with product groups and suppliers to resolve field issues Perform audits of existing and new suppliers Collaborate with BCP plants on root cause and corrective actions for supplier‑related production issues Ensure supply quality by testing and assessing incoming supplies to identify issues; develop inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms Generate reports on supplier quality, monitor defect rates, and guide suppliers to reduce defects Research potential vendors, assess their manufacturing environment and practices, and conduct quality control audits to ensure compliance with policies and standards Support suppliers in improving performance through process enhancements, implementing controls, and developing QA plans Lead improvement projects for quality and supply development What You Have (Core Skills) Effective Communications: Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and interpret ideas, information, and needs using appropriate communication behaviors Process Improvement: Ability to evaluate current product quality and production methods and maintain continuous improvement focus Quality Orientation: Knowledge of quality management methods and techniques; ability to create and support quality‑goal environments Production Part Approval Process (PPAP): Knowledge of PPAP elements, submissions, and objectives; ability to determine supplier capability to meet consistent quality requirements Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational manufacturing standards and ability to guide and monitor processes for compliance Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes to manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers; ability to apply related knowledge in practice Top Candidates Will Also Have Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field Experience working with global facilities in China, Japan, Brazil, India, and the UK Solid experience working with suppliers Additional Details Work location: Clayton, NC Domestic relocation assistance: Not available Visa sponsorship: Not available Travel: 25% domestic and international Position requires 5 days per week in the office (M‑F) Summary Pay Range $128,470.00 – $192,710.00 Compensation and benefits may vary by individual factors, job level, location, and experience.
