Accounts Payable Specialist (Part-Time Contract)

Location: Charlotte, NC

Pay: $2628/hour (flexibility based on experience)

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable professional to assist with high-volume invoice processing and vendor support activities. This role will play a key part in maintaining smooth AP operations while the team continues adapting to a recently implemented ERP system and onboarding new staff members. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, communicative, and comfortable managing a large invoice workload in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process a high volume of invoices on a daily basis with accuracy and efficiency
• Review invoices for proper approvals, documentation, and payment processing
• Support both PO and non-PO invoice workflows
• Communicate with vendors regarding invoice discrepancies, payment inquiries, and account updates
• Assist with vendor setup and payment method maintenance, including ACH and EFT information
• Perform payment matching and batch processing activities
• Reconcile vendor statements and assist with aging report accuracy
• Support month-end AP activities and audit documentation requests
• Assist with annual 1099 preparation and reporting
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve invoice and payment issues
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and cross-functional support as needed

Qualifications:

• 25 years of Accounts Payable experience
• Experience handling high-volume invoice processing environments (100+ invoices daily)
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
• Proficiency with Excel
• Experience with Workday is strongly preferred
• Stable work history and demonstrated interest in AP-focused work

• Part-time schedule: TuesdayThursday, 8:00 AM5:00 PM
