Accounting Clerk/Accounting AssistantSchedule: Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM Pay rate: $19 - $22/hr Temporary opportunity; 3-4 month long assignmentDescription/ResponsibilitiesThe Accounting Assistant/Clerk performs routine accounting activities such as data entry, general ledger maintenance, preparation of various accounting statements, and financial reports. Reviews, codes, and verifies transactions, including billings, invoices, checks, and journal entries.Essential FunctionsServe as clerical support for the accounting departmentAssist with conducting routine data entry management for accounting records, including accounts payable, billing, and accounts receivableAssist with reviewing billing statements, invoices, and similar documents for accuracy; alert supervisory staff of any discrepanciesHandle mail distribution, answering telephone calls from vendors, and other clerical tasks as neededEnter accounting data into the systemAssist with researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely fashionMaintain the accounting department's soft and hard copy filesMay assist with preparing financial reports and various accounting statementsMay assist with submitting and processing direct deposit payments to the bankProvide professional and courteous customer service to all employeesAssist with reconciling benefit bills monthly, bank statements, and other accountsAssist with generating summary sheets to be used by managersAccounting Assistant/Clerk Job RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in accounting/bookkeepingPrevious experience which demonstrates numeracy and literacy skillsKnowledge of MS Word and ExcelFamiliarity with SCA and H&WKnowledge of government contracting practices is a plusBookkeeping training preferredPrevious experience with Deltek/CostPoint is a plus and would put you on higher end of pay rangeExperience using computerized payroll and accounting software is a plusExperience creating and using spreadsheets is a plusWork Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable) 1.
