Helping a student participate in a lesson, communicate a need, or navigate a transition takes patience, encouragement, and trust. At The Creekside School, our Autism Paraprofessionals provide the everyday support that helps students build skills and become more independent.

We’re looking for compassionate, dependable, and energetic individuals to support students with autism and developmental disabilities, including those with extensive support needs. You’ll join a collaborative educational team that recognizes each student’s strengths and celebrates progress in its many forms.

Your Role at Creekside

As an Autism Paraprofessional, you’ll support students throughout the school day—in the classroom, during activities and transitions, and through opportunities to practice skills in the community.

You might help a student engage in a small-group lesson, support communication during an activity, or guide a student through a challenging moment. By building relationships and providing consistent support, you’ll help students develop confidence and participate more fully in daily life.

You’ll work closely with teachers, Behavior Specialists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and families to support each student’s individual goals.

What You’ll Do

• Support teachers in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).

• Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students with autism and extensive support needs.

• Encourage communication, social interaction, independence, and positive behavior throughout the school day.

• Assist with academic, behavioral, recreational, vocational, and daily living activities.

• Help maintain a structured, safe, and positive classroom environment.

• Collect behavioral and academic data as directed.

• Collaborate with teachers, behavior professionals, therapists, and families to support student success.

• Support students during classroom instruction, community-based instruction, school activities, and transitions.

• Assist with personal care and mobility needs when appropriate.

• Maintain confidentiality and follow school policies, IEPs, and applicable state and federal regulations.

• Participate in required training, staff meetings, and professional development.

• Contribute to a positive, collaborative school culture.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll BringMinimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Compassion, dependability, and a commitment to supporting students with autism.

• Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

• Patience, flexibility, and professionalism in a dynamic educational environment.

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, lifting, and supporting students throughout the school day.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional consideration may be given to candidates with:

• Experience supporting individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.

• Experience in special education, behavioral health, childcare, or human services.

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Child Development, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.

• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.

• Experience implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies.

• CPR and First Aid certification.

• Experience using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.

Compensation

$25.00–$28.50 per hour , depending on qualifications and experience.

Compensation considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and demonstrated skills. Autism-specific experience, behavioral intervention training, RBT certification, special education experience, ABA knowledge, AAC experience, and other qualifications that support student success may receive additional consideration.
