This role provides care to inpatient and outpatient populations to restore function, improve communication and swallowing abilities, and help patients achieve their highest level of independence and quality of life. The Speech Therapist collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, rehabilitation teams, patients, and families to provide high-quality, evidence-based care while supporting performance improvement and quality initiatives throughout the department.Essential FunctionsPerform speech, language, and swallowing evaluations upon physician referralDevelop individualized treatment plans and therapy goalsProvide evidence-based Speech/Language Pathology treatments and interventionsPerform swallowing evaluations and communicate findings promptly to the healthcare teamEducate patients and families regarding treatment plans, therapy goals, and home strategiesMaintain accurate and timely patient documentation within the medical recordCollaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient careIdentify and address patient psychosocial, cultural, and emotional needsRecommend dietary modifications when necessary to reduce aspiration riskParticipate in departmental quality improvement and performance improvement activitiesMaintain professional competency and continuing education requirementsQualificationsEducation & LicensureMaster’s Degree from an accredited Speech/Language Pathology program requiredCurrent State Licensure in Speech Pathology requiredCurrent BCLS (CPR) certification requiredPreferred ExperienceOne (1) or more years of Speech Language Pathology experience preferredSkills & CompetenciesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational and clinical assessment abilitiesAbility to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare teamCompassionate and patient-centered approach to careAbility to remain organized and effective in fast-paced or stressful situationsPhysical RequirementsThis position requires standing, walking, sitting for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds using proper techniques, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, reaching, and repetitive arm-hand coordination throughout the workday.Work EnvironmentWork is performed in both inpatient and outpatient healthcare settings with direct patient interaction.
