Job Title

Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR)

Location

Odessa, TX | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Days | 5-day work week | Start Time: 7:00 AM (end times may vary depending on procedures) | 30-minute lunch | On-call requirements: approximately 6–8 days per month

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in anticipating and planning for patient care in the operating room
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other personnel to deliver patient care in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, AORN standards, and regulatory guidelines
• Ensure availability and readiness of surgical supplies and support the timeliness of cases
• Communicate with patient families and update physician preference cards as needed
• Scrub and assist physicians during surgical cases
• Supervise personnel involved in the delivery of patient care within the surgical department

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• PALS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of OR nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Must live outside the local area — local candidates will not be considered for this position

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Familiarity with AORN standards and surgical department policies and procedures
• Experience scrubbing and circulating across a variety of surgical specialties
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
