Read mail & help on the internet with a Blind man in Cambridge!

Overview Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired offers a number of services in its COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER PROGRAM. Volunteers work one-to-one with visually impaired adults in their community, assisting with reading or shopping. Every year we run 35 peer‑led SUPPORT GROUPS where individuals gather to share challenges and resources. Elders with low vision can work with one of our VISION REHABILITATION SPECIALISTS to learn strategies for living with limited or no vision. Special focus on reading and writing, magnification, lighting, diabetes management, home safety and daily activities. MABVI's greatest need currently is for volunteers in the Boston region, and willingness to travel anywhere in the City of Boston. MABVI is appreciative of volunteer's willingness to travel a minimum of 10‑15 miles. Opportunity: this MABVI participant would like a volunteer to help them read mail & assist on the internet in Cambridge, MA! They would like to have volunteer help once a week or bi‑monthly. Volunteer Interest We are seeking volunteers who are interested in a relationship‑building and task‑oriented role! Do you enjoy making a connection with someone in your community? Volunteer Tasks Reading mail Paying bills Internet use/technology Medical transportation Grocery shopping Running errands in the community Recreational activities such as being a running/walking sighted guide Other clerical tasks Time Commitment This opportunity is flexible based on your match's needs. Volunteers typically devote 1‑2 hours a week or every other week.
