Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

The Emergency Department is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality emergency care to patients in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: 7A-7:30P / 7P-7:30A
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Weekend: Rotating weekends or 4 weekend shifts per schedule; holidays per unit policy

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate and effective care to patients experiencing a variety of emergency conditions.
• Stabilize critical patients with conditions such as acute myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, stroke, and trauma.
• Conduct assessments and develop appropriate care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment, including CT scanners, for patient evaluation.
• Ensure timely interventions are performed for serious emergencies where treatment time is critical.

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN License (temporary licenses not accepted)
• 2+ years of Emergency Room experience is required
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale
• Experience with Meditech documentation system is preferred

Unit Information

• 15 treatment rooms, including trauma/cardiac care rooms and observation beds for 24-hour monitoring.
• Full range of services including radiology and a full-service laboratory.
• Patient-centered approach with bedside registration for privacy and convenience.
• Transport options available for critically ill or injured patients.

Dress Code

Professional attire is required, including the following:

• Scrubs: Navy scrub top and pants, navy or white scrub jacket
• Nail Policy: Clean and healthy nails only
• Hair: Neat and clean; no extreme styles or colors allowed
• Beards and mustaches should be clean and neatly trimmed
• Tattoos should be covered whenever possible
• Visible piercings (other than ears) are not permitted

Additional Information

The candidate must be flexible and willing to float to other areas as needed, adhering to the unit's floating policy. A commitment to attendance and adherence to unit guidelines and policies is essential.
