Hotel Chief Engineer

Position Chief Engineer – Ramada Costa Mesa / Newport Beach – Excel Hotel Group – Full Time – $29–$32/hr Overview We are looking for a Chief Engineer to take full ownership of maintenance operations at our Ramada Costa Mesa / Newport Beach property. This is a hands‑on leadership role – you’ll run the preventative maintenance program, manage the maintenance team, lead the safety committee, and keep the building in top condition. Responsibilities Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and building systems regularly to catch and fix issues before they become problems. Manage all building systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pool/spa, fire/life safety. Build and run the preventative maintenance program. Hire, train, schedule, and supervise maintenance technicians. Manage outside contractors for specialized work. Serve as Safety Committee Leader—run safety trainings, maintain PPE, ensure OSHA compliance. Develop and manage the maintenance budget. Track parts/supplies inventory and handle procurement. Qualifications 3–5 years hotel or commercial building maintenance experience, at least 1 year in a lead/supervisor role. Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and pool maintenance. Strong communication skills — can direct a team, coordinate vendors, and report to management clearly. Physically able to stand/walk 8+ hours and lift up to 50 lbs. Reliable and self‑directed. Nice to Have EPA 608 or HVAC credentials. CPO certification. Bilingual English/Spanish.
