Job Opportunity

Position: NICU RN Staff Nurse

Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Location: Salem, OR

Position Purpose

The NICU RN Staff Nurse is responsible for providing safe, quality healthcare to neonates and their families through a family-centered care approach. This nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, teach, intervene, and evaluate appropriately, while ensuring the safety and security of the family unit.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years of acute care NICU RN experience is required.

Licenses/Certifications/Registration

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Oregon.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association is required.
• NRP certification required within 90 days of hire.
• STABLE certification required within 12 months of hire.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and use professional judgment in emergency situations.
• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
• Collaborative team player with team leader capabilities.
• Clear and constructive communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Organizational and delegation skills.
• Ability to work alongside or in conjunction with Interpretive Services.

Unit Details

• Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics
• Daily Census: Variable
• Number of Beds: 27
• Patient Ratios: 3:1 for days and nights
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Orientation Hours: 24

Key Responsibilities

The NICU RN Staff Nurse will perform various clinical skills and procedures specific to the neonatal population, including but not limited to:

• Administration of blood and blood products.
• Management of arterial lines and central lines.
• Assisting with lumbar punctures and high-risk deliveries.
• Monitoring and administering medications for various conditions.
• Supporting breastfeeding and handling of breast milk.
• Implementing developmental care practices.
• Conducting patient and family education.

Additional Information

Candidates should be prepared to float within the hospital or to affiliated hospitals nearby as necessary. Previous charge experience, familiarity with Epic charting system, and a range of clinical competencies specific to neonates and pediatric care are preferred.
