Manufacturing & Engineering Technology Teacher – Career & Technical Education (CTE) Position Description The Manufacturing & Engineering Technology Teacher will provide engaging, hands‑on, industry‑aligned instruction within Stratford Public Schools’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) Manufacturing Production & Technology and STEM pathways. The successful candidate will create authentic learning experiences that prepare students for postsecondary education, apprenticeships, industry certifications, and careers in advanced manufacturing, engineering, construction technologies, industrial design, and skilled trades. The teacher will foster a positive, inclusive, and student‑centered learning environment while integrating technical, academic, STEM, and employability skills aligned with 21st‑century workforce expectations and the district’s Portrait of a Graduate competencies. Instructional areas may include woodworking fundamentals, manufacturing processes, engineering concepts, Computer‑Aided Design (CAD), Computer‑Aided Manufacturing (CAM), CNC operations, fabrication, construction technologies, prototyping, materials processing, robotics and automation concepts, industrial safety, and project‑based manufacturing applications. Students may also participate in work‑based learning experiences, career exploration opportunities, industry partnerships, STEM competitions, and community‑based projects. Reports to: Principal and Director of Career & Community Learning Location: Bunnell High School Job Responsibilities Deliver high‑quality instruction aligned with Connecticut CTE standards, STEM frameworks, and industry expectations within the Manufacturing Production & Technology pathway Teach courses such as: Introduction to Manufacturing Technology Manufacturing Technology Advanced Manufacturing Technology Potential Engineering and STEM coursework as assigned Develop and implement project‑based, competency‑based, and inquiry‑driven instructional experiences Create authentic learning opportunities that promote critical thinking, creativity, innovation, collaboration, and problem‑solving Maintain a safe, organized, and properly functioning laboratory/shop environment in compliance with OSHA standards, district safety protocols, and industry practices Instruct students in the safe and proper use of hand tools, portable power tools, stationary machinery, CNC equipment, and manufacturing technologies Integrate engineering design principles, blueprint reading, measurement systems, materials science, and technical literacy into instruction Teach students foundational and advanced skills related to manufacturing systems, fabrication, construction methods, CAD/CAM software, CNC programming, prototyping, and production processes Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, multilingual learners, and varying student abilities Utilize instructional technology, engineering software, and current industry tools to enhance student learning experiences Prepare students for industry‑recognized certifications, postsecondary opportunities, apprenticeships, and workforce readiness Supervise and support students during labs, competitions, internships, field experiences, and community projects Collaborate with colleagues, school counselors, administrators, industry partners, advisory committees, and community organizations to strengthen programming and student opportunities Maintain accurate student records, grades, safety documentation, inventory systems, and equipment maintenance logs Participate in curriculum development, program improvement initiatives, professional learning communities, and CTE advisory meetings Foster a culture of professionalism, leadership, teamwork, communication, adaptability, and student engagement Support district initiatives related to career readiness, STEM education, equity, innovation, and student success Qualifications Required Connecticut Teaching Certification in Technology Education, Industrial Arts, STEM Education, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or related CTE area Candidates seeking certification eligibility must possess: Minimum of four (4) years of recent, relevant, full‑time wage‑earning experience in manufacturing, engineering technology, construction, fabrication, machining, woodworking, CNC operations, industrial technology, or related industries beyond the training period Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing systems, engineering concepts, industrial safety practices, CAD/CAM systems, and CNC technologies Strong communication, organizational, classroom management, and interpersonal skills Commitment to fostering inclusive, engaging, and equitable learning environments Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Construction Technology, Technology Education, Mechanical Design, or related field from an accredited institution Prior teaching, mentoring, coaching, training, apprenticeship supervision, or youth development experience Experience with CAD/CAM software, CNC programming, fabrication technologies, or engineering design systems Experience integrating STEM education, robotics, automation, and project‑based learning into instruction Experience developing industry partnerships, internships, or work‑based learning opportunities OSHA Safety Certification and/or relevant industry credentials Additional Expectations Commitment to continuous professional growth and staying current with evolving manufacturing technologies, engineering practices, and workforce trends Ability to collaborate effectively within a team‑oriented educational environment Ability to promote a safe, innovative, and future‑focused learning environment that prepares students for college, careers, and lifelong learning Stratford Public Schools is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce and encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
