Pathologists' Assistant - Hospital Pathology Lab

Labcorp

Labcorp seeks a Pathologist Assistant for its hospital pathology laboratory in Wichita, Kansas on a per diem basis. The role involves specimen dissection, gross description, tissue selection, and submission for microscopic examination while maintaining quality control and laboratory standards.

Responsibilities

Perform complete dissection and gross description of tissue specimens
Select and submit tissue for microscopic examination and special studies
Follow departmental guidelines for specimen handling and processing
Identify and report problems affecting test performance or result reporting
Assist with rotations in other departmental areas as assigned

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in biological, chemical, or related life science
Minimum 1 year of grossing experience with small biopsies and complex surgical cases
Knowledge of hazardous waste management and bloodborne pathogen protocols
Proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems
Ability to pass standardized color blindness test
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
