As a General Manager, you'll provide strategic leadership for all aspects of railroad operations, driving safety, service excellence, and financial performance across your assigned territory. This high-impact role is responsible for building strong teams, fostering customer relationships, and ensuring that railroads operate efficiently while meeting business goals.

You'll lead both operational and administrative functions, balancing day-to-day execution with long-term planning. This role is ideal for a results-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about developing people, serving customers, and growing the business.

• Manage all aspects of railroad operations with accountability for safety, service, operating practices, and financial results
• Establish and maintain strong customer relationships ensuring service commitments are met through actively engaging to understand operational needs
• Manage operating budgets, payroll, expenses, and company assets to achieve financial objectives and drive overall business performance.
• Build and develop high-performing teams through hiring, coaching, training, and employee development
• Partner with Human Resources on hiring and employee relations following all applicable policies and regulations
• Submit annual business plan and analyze daily/monthly performance of the railroads to determine changes in operations required to stay on plan
• Establish the railroad within the community it serves, especially relations with connecting carriers; local suppliers; local, state, and federal politicians and governmental agencies; and the business community
• Represent the railroad within industry trade associations
• Respond to and investigate accidents / incidents (derailments, personal injury, etc.), prepare associated reports and provide proper notification
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence and ensure alignment with the company's Core Values.
• Assist with other projects and other duties as assigned.

Full-time (40 plus hours weekly)

Varying schedule in a 24/7 work environment that includes nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call

Must be available to take calls and report outside of normal business hours on short notice to handle emergencies or situations related to maintaining fluid railroad operations

Outdoor work in all weather conditions

Walking long distances on uneven surfaces and climbing ladders and equipment always ensuring three points of contact in varying environmental conditions

Able to squat, bend and lift overhead

Have good balance and coordination

Must meet vision requirements (including color)

• 5+ years of work experience in the railroad industry with supervisory duties; 7+ years of experience in the railroad industry preferred
• Thorough knowledge of FRA regulations and railroad operations, including, but not limited to, transportation, dispatching, marketing, maintenance-of-way, mechanical, and clerical activities
• Analytical/Problem Solving
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written with senior management, employees, customers, railroads, regulatory officials and the general public
• Proficient computer skills and skills in Microsoft Office
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, the Code of Federal Regulations, and monthly financial reports
• Possess situational awareness and decision-making abilities to respond effectively in a safety sensitive environment

• Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of high school diploma / GED and experience; bachelor's degree preferred
• Valid Driver's License

• Pre-employment physical, hearing, and vision medical review
• Subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing including pre-employment drug screening
• Background screening including criminal and motor vehicle driving history

Must live within 50 miles of assigned location or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance may be offered for this position.
