Position Summary Computershare is seeking a sophisticated, analytical Paralegal to join our specialized Corporate Trust Intake Team. In this high-visibility role, you will be responsible for the critical first line of defense in managing, evaluating, and mitigating legal and financial risks associated with Commercial and Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS/RMBS). Managing a high-volume, shared corporate network queue, you will analyze complex incoming statutory filings and legal notices, determine exact downstream business impacts, and execute strategic escalations. This position requires an advanced understanding of the mortgage lifecycle, default property legalities, and the capacity to make decisive, risk-based determinations under tight regulatory deadlines. Key Responsibilities Legal Review & Triage: Actively manage and monitor the team’s shared centralized intake database to review incoming legal notices, corporate actions, and statutory filings impacting residential and commercial mortgage-backed securities portfolios. Risk Assessment & Impact Analysis: Critically analyze every received legal matter to determine the exact downstream entity or operational division impacted within Computershare. Assess the severity, legal timeline, and financial exposure of each document. Strategic Escalation Management: Independently identify high-risk notices—specifically focusing on cases dealing with Property Tax Sales, Foreclosure Proceedings, Homeowners Association (HOA) super-liens, and Bankruptcy filings —and execute immediate, formal escalations to senior risk teams, counsel, or leadership. Corporate Compliance & Data Governance: Document and log all incoming legal actions, tracking case milestones, critical notification windows, and internal routing paths within corporate compliance systems to ensure an uncompromised, audit-ready data trail. Cross-Functional Advisory: Function as the primary internal legal intake specialist, interpreting ambiguous legal language or notice variables to guide internal corporate trust administrators on incoming statutory obligations. Qualifications & Requirements Education & Credentials: Bachelor's Degree and/or an ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent senior-level compliance experience. Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience as a Paralegal, Document Review Specialist, or Title/Default Analyst within Mortgage Servicing, Real Estate Law, Title Insurance, or Financial Services. Corporate Trust experience is a plus, but not required; comprehensive specialized training will be provided. Advanced Mortgage & Property Knowledge: Deep foundational understanding of default mortgage mechanics, real estate legal structures, and critical documentation—including Deeds of Trust, Liens, Apportionments, Assignments, and Foreclosure Notices . Analytical & Legal Interpretation Skills: Proven capability to read highly technical legal documents, isolate key variables, and rapidly assess legal and financial liability. Operational Stamina: Experience managing a busy corporate shared mailbox or legal docketing system, with a demonstrated ability to remain accurate under the pressure of rigid compliance timelines.
