Senior Software Engineer

About the Project:

In this role, you’ll work as part of the Cadre5 team supporting G2, a program management system that helps the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) manage complex programs and maintain visibility across its work. G2 brings together critical program information, including scope, schedules, budgets, and performance metrics, into a centralized system. This enables NNSA and its organizations to better manage programs, track performance, and support effective program oversight.

Candidates must live within 90 miles of Knoxville, TN, to support weekly on-site workdays.

Job Responsibilities:

• Translate business requirements into maintainable technical solutions.
• Develop technical designs and evaluate implementation alternatives and tradeoffs.
• Provide technical leadership within an Agile development team.
• Participate in estimation, refinement, planning, and delivery of Agile work.
• Design and implement complex application functionality across front-end, middle-tier, and database components.
• Review code and technical designs for quality, maintainability, security, and adherence to project standards.
• Mentor software engineers and help develop team technical capabilities.
• Diagnose complex application issues across multiple application layers.
• Collaborate with architects, Product Owners, QA, UX designers, and other development teams.
• Identify and advocate for improvements to architecture, engineering practices, and development processes.

Basic Qualifications:

• This position requires at least 5+ years of applicable technical work experience coupled with bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership for software development efforts, including technical design, code review, problem solving, and mentoring other engineers.
• Experience designing and maintaining large-scale, multi-tier enterprise applications.
• Experience developing software using C# and .NET.
• Experience with relational databases, T-SQL, and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience with the Agile software development process.
• Ability to use logic, analytical thinking, imagination, proactive approach, and initiative to solve problems.
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
• Good communication skills both written and verbal.
• U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to requirements of the federal government contract supporting the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This position does not require a security clearance.
• Must be open to a hybrid work schedule, with weekly on-site workdays in Knoxville, TN.

• 10 + years of applicable technical work experience.
• Experience mentoring team members.
• Ability to interpret and translate technical and/or complex concepts into information meaningful to team members and/or business personnel.
• Experience with architecting enterprise solutions based on web services.
• Experience with CSS and HTML5.
• Experience building responsive web applications.
• Strong experience with CSS and HTML5.
