Wyckoff Heights Medical C Wyckoff Heights Medical Center | Main Campus New York, USA Wyckoff Heights Medical C Wyckoff Heights Medical Center | Main Campus New York, USA Starting Salary: $40.5225 ( Years of experience can inflate the starting salary rate ) Job Description: Prepares and maintains the "sterile field," ensuring all instruments, drapes, and supplies remain free of microorganisms to prevent patient infection. Acts as the surgeon's "third hand" by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures swiftly and often anticipating the surgeon's needs before they are voiced. Performs meticulous "counts" of all sponges, needles, and instruments with a nurse before and after the operation to ensure no foreign objects are left inside the patient. Sterilizes the OR, gathers specific surgical kits based on the procedure, and sets up advanced equipment like robotic or laparoscopic tools. Assists with positioning patients on the operating table, prepping incision sites with antiseptic, and applying sterile dressings once the surgery is complete. Cleans and restocks the OR, prepares used instruments for decontamination, and assists in transporting the patient to the recovery room. Requirements/Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalency Required Preferred minimum of 1 year Operating Room related experience Preferred minimum of 1 year Neurology related experience NBSTSA National Certification as a Surgical Technologist required Good communication skills (written, verbal and telephone) BLS required Qualifications Skills Behaviors Motivations Education Required High School Diploma/Equiv or better in High School Diploma.
