Monday thru Friday - 8am to 5pm

$35hr to $40hr depending on experience


A precision manufacturing facility serving the aerospace, medical, computer, consumer products, industrial, and solar industries is seeking a highly qualified Setup Lathe Machinist to join its Chatsworth-based team. The organization operates under Lean Manufacturing principles, is AS9100D certified, and is fully ITAR compliant, delivering high-reliability components to regulated markets.


Summary: The Setup Lathe Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining lathe machines to manufacture precision components in accordance with engineering requirements and quality standards. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to edit machining programs, and hands-on experience working from technical documentation in a regulated aerospace manufacturing environment.


Responsibilities:

• Set up, load, and operate CNC and/or manual lathe machines to produce machined parts.
• Edit and adjust machining programs as needed to resolve issues and maintain part quality.
• Troubleshoot machining processes, tooling, and setups to ensure efficient production.
• Load raw materials and run production parts in accordance with work instructions.
• Read and interpret drawings, sketches, and verbal or written instructions.
• Select and properly use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Select and use appropriate hand tools required for setup, adjustment, and part handling.
• Perform in-process inspections to ensure conformance to AS9100D quality standards.
• Maintain compliance with ITAR regulations and company policies.
• Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including continuous improvement and waste reduction.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Setup Lathe Machinist or Lathe Operator in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Ability to problem-solve machining issues and edit programs as required.
• Strong understanding of machining processes and tooling.
• Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Ability to work independently from drawings, sketches, or written/verbal instructions.
• Experience working to tight tolerances common in aerospace and regulated industries.
