Job Summary The Detail Inspector performs inspections in accordance with current technical data, manufacturer’s instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), Airworthiness Directives, service bulletins, service letters, and other FAA-accepted or approved data. This role conducts preliminary, hidden damage, in-process, and final inspections to ensure airworthiness, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company quality standards. Duties & Responsibilities Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of incoming engine parts and components. Identify and document pre-existing damage, missing parts, or discrepancies upon receipt. Use precision measurement tools to inspect engine parts/components for wear, defects, or non-conformance. Conduct dimensional and structural inspections to assess serviceability. Issue non-conformance reports (NCRs) and collaborate with engineers and technicians to determine corrective actions. Monitor and maintain traceability of parts and components throughout the maintenance process. Participate in FAA audits, customer audits, and internal quality control evaluations. Perform inspections of maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations of a powerplant, aircraft, appliance, or component for which the inspector is rated in accordance with 14 CFR 65.85, 65.87, and 65.95. Perform Required Inspection Items (RII) as authorized on the M-16 Maintenance and Inspection Authorization Card. Perform inspections and required inspections in accordance with approved methods, standards, and limits to determine that work was satisfactorily completed. Verify that proper tooling and test equipment required by approved data are used during maintenance tasks being inspected and that equipment calibration status is current prior to use. Inspect major repairs and alterations to verify work was performed in accordance with approved data and without unauthorized deviations. Record inspections performed on maintenance, preventive maintenance, repairs, and alterations in accordance with company procedures. Generate and sign FAA Form 337 as required for major repairs and alterations. Conduct inspection tasks as specified on company task cards for customer aircraft, engines, and components, recording defects as required. Review corrective action entries, installed parts tags, and documentation for completion and proper authorization references in accordance with company procedures. When assigned Airworthiness Release duties, review deferred maintenance items, logbook entries, service forms, and installed parts tags for completeness and proper signoff prior to approval. Complete inspection turnover documentation when assigned to letter check inspections or required inspections, ensuring incomplete tasks are recorded for incoming inspectors. Perform receiving inspection on incoming parts, materials, and tooling to ensure company standards are met and generate applicable identification tags. Report to the Inspection Manager all matters adversely affecting airworthiness or maintenance efficiency. Education and Experience Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with CFM56 engine piece part inspection, repair, and return to service. A valid Powerplant License is preferred. Skills Minimum knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies include but are not limited to: Good written and verbal communication skills. Able to read, write and understand English in accordance with 145.153. Proficiency working with all precision measurement tools. Ability to read and interpret OEM maintenance manuals, technical data, and work instructions. Physical Requirements & Work Environment: Standing, walking, bending. Regular use of PPE gear.
