COBOL / Mainframe Developer – 5–9 Years of ExperienceRemote (EST candidates only) Duration: 6 Months Contract (potential extension)Skills Needed:+5 Years of Mainframe COBOL (CICS), JCL, and CopybooksCoding in COBOL (CICS), JCL, CA7, DB2, and Batch ProcessingDeveloping and executing unit testing and integrationsRun, compile, and debug in IBM Z370Mainframe programming in Z370 and MVS 2.04 environmentsOur client, a top tier Management Consulting firm, is seeking an Maiframe/COBOL developer who is experienced working with mainframe systems to help implement a change to support correspondence generation in multiple languages (English and Spanish), including updating/creating reference tables and substitution variables.Responsibilities:Design, develop and maintain Mainframe COBOL, JCL & Copybooks to meet project requirementsDevelop and execute unit test and integration plans/scripts to validate that application changes meet technical specificationsParticipate in technical reviews at appropriate stages of developmentInterface with business and IT teams to understand business requirements and translate business requirements into formal technical requirements and application codeWork with IT support teams (EIA, DA/DBA, server teams) to ensure support and project requirements are developed and successfully implementedWork with business team to complete acceptance testing and participate in integration testingProvide Solution Delivery Methodology artifacts associated with application componentsQualifications:5+ years of mainframe Development background in design, analysis and coding: COBOL (CICS), JCL, CICS, CA7, DB2, batch processingIT technical background & mainframe programming experience especially z370 and MVS 2.04Ability to work independently on enhancements to Cobol programs and subprograms and can compile, run, and debug on an IBM z370 environmentExcellent interpersonal and communication skills for working in a global environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to multi-task effectivelyPrioritize Business Impact and UrgencyPerform application support tasks like systems support, security reviews, & maintenance tasksTesting experienceAbility to learn new technologies and methodologies quickly
