Dialysis Clinical Manager Registered Nurse - RN

About this role As a Clinical Manager with Fresenius Medical Care, you will ensure that quality patient care is delivered while maintaining clinical operations. You will be part of a close‑knit, collaborative team responsible for delivering unique care plans and providing dialysis treatment to patients facing end‑stage renal disease or chronic kidney disease. The curriculum covers onboarding, essential functions, leading your business, and advanced leadership. Purpose and Scope Manage and oversee the daily operations of the facility, ensuring cost‑effective facility operations in accordance with all legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements and programs. Collaborate with the Medical Director and clinical teams regarding the provision of quality patient care in the dialysis facility incorporating all activities from admission through to discharge. As the clinic leader, have the authority to make daily decisions to ensure the appropriate continuity of care and patient and staff safety. Market available services through presentations to physicians and dialysis facilities. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Clinic Operations Provides leadership, coaching, and development plans for all direct reports. Partners with internal Human Resources, Quality, Education, and Technical Services departments. Collaborates with the Home Therapies Program Manager to oversee the facility’s Home Therapies Program. Maintains integrity of medical and operations records and complies with all data collection and auditing activities. Accountable for completion of the Internal Classification of Disease (ICD) coding. Responsible for all required network reporting and on‑site state or federal surveys. Manages tactical execution of short‑ and long‑term objectives through coordination of activities with direct responsibility for results, including cost, method, and staffing. Administers the daily business operations of the dialysis clinics, including staff management, ensuring quality of patient care, maintaining the physical plant, equipment, and inventory control. Manages profit and loss and other related financial aspects for the center, ensuring optimal facility operations to achieve or exceed the budget and key performance indicators. Patient Care Coordinates all aspects of patient care with the appropriate staff members, from admission through discharge. Acts as a resource for the patient and family to address concerns and questions. Oversees the timely completion of patient care assessments and care plans. Manages timely patient schedules to ensure facility efficiency and develop action plans for missed treatments. Reports changes in patient status regarding clinical, insurance, or travel and transportation issues. Staff Participates in the selection and hiring of new team members and ensures completion of new hiring orientation and mandatory training. Ensures all patient‑care employees complete appropriate training courses and that licensures/certifications are current. Provides support for all clinical staff at regular intervals and encourages professional growth. Maintains current knowledge regarding company benefits, policies, procedures, and processes. Obtains clinical feedback for employee evaluations and establishes annual goals and conducts performance evaluations. Documents any disciplinary actions and consults with the clinic Director of Operations and Human Resources when needed. Manages staff scheduling and payroll. Physicians Facilitates the application process for physician privileges and compliance with Fresenius Medical Care Medical Staff By‑Laws. Maintains strong physician relationships and ensures regular and effective communication. Participates in the Governing Body, an interdisciplinary team for each region including MDs, DOs, etc. that governs policies. Other Responsibilities Collaborates closely with the Clinical Manager/Charge RN, Medical Director, and physicians regarding direct patient care responsibilities in the facility to ensure provision of outstanding quality patient care. Coordinates all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge. Addresses patient concerns, issues, and questions, including review of patient satisfaction surveys. Develops and communicates efficient and timely patient schedules to maximize facility efficiency. Assists as needed with patient workflow. Implements and maintains a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Process and Quality Assessment and Improvement Program (QAPI) Improvement Team that involves staff and physicians in problem‑solving activities on a regular basis. Continuously reviews center operations to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws. Supports and drives FMS quality standards through regulatory requirements and the practice of CQI. Works with the Charge RN and Medical Director to implement FMS quality goals and develop facility‑specific action plans. Oversees and monitors the appropriate training according to FMS policy and all risk‑management initiatives. Collaborates to ensure aggressive treatment of adverse safety events and action thresholds. Ensures all quality policies and procedures are communicated to and implemented by the facility staff. Maintains integrity of medical records and other administrative and operational records. Complies and assists with all data collection and auditing activities. Manages day‑to‑day activities and workload of the facility staff, providing guidance and leadership. Creates, maintains, and communicates efficient and timely employee schedules. Provides informal feedback to staff on an ongoing basis and formal feedback during the annual performance review. Manages department staffing through appropriate hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions. Maintains written documentation of all disciplinary meetings as per policy and consults with Human Resources and Director of Operations. Executes new hire orientation, training, ICD‑9/10 coding training, and ensures mandatory in‑services completed. Ensures documentation of licensure, annual in‑service, and policy updates. Ensures all facility employees receive appropriate training per company policy. Provides training and guidance to develop clinical competencies, opportunities for professional growth, and personal growth. Collaborates with HR regarding staff information about benefits, policies, and procedures. Participates in Corporate and Division employee recognition and satisfaction programs. Maintains close working relationship with Division and Corporate office personnel and ensures proper communication of initiatives. Utilizes knowledge of FMCNA and FMS services and products to contribute to business growth. Maintains facility environmental integrity and safety. Schedules maintenance and repair of equipment, operating systems, and facility structure. Monitors facility security. Coordinates inventory/supply management, reviews monthly counts, and approves purchase orders to ensure cost containment. Responsible for efficient utilization of medication, laboratory, supplies, and equipment to achieve cost goals. Contributes to development and revision of applicable policies and procedures. Directs necessary information gathering to support billing and collection activities. Coordinates and approves facility payroll. Participates in all on‑site internal and external surveys. Reviews provider contracts for vendor services. Performs other related duties as assigned. Supervision Supervises Charge RN and DPC Staff. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Day‑to‑day work includes desk and computer work and interaction with patients, staff, and physicians. Work environment characterized by air‑conditioned healthcare facility with moderate noise levels; may be exposed to infectious materials. Requires frequent prolonged standing and ability to bend over. May occasionally require assistance to move patients and equipment of up to 200 lbs, with a two‑person assist program. Travel to regional, business unit, and corporate meetings may be required. Education Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (RN). Current RN state licensure. Experience and Required Skills Experience in clinical nursing. Additional 6 months chronic or acute dialysis nursing experience. Demonstrated leadership competencies and management skills, including excellent communication, customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship development, results orientation, team building, motivation, performance management, and decision making. Demonstrated management skills necessary to provide leadership in the supervision of facility personnel and to ensure delivery of maximum quality care to all patients. Successfully passed the Ishihara Color Blind Test. Preferred Experience Experience in a supervisory/management role in a medical facility. Med/surg or ICU/CCU experience.
