Associate Director Portfolio AI Activation

Merck seeks an Associate Director to lead advanced analytics and AI initiatives for pharmaceutical commercial teams. The role combines machine learning, statistical modeling, and emerging AI applications to drive brand strategy, product launches, and field engagement decisions across specialty and infectious disease business units.
Responsibilities
- Lead advanced analytics and machine learning projects addressing brand, marketing, and HCP targeting questions
- Support product launch readiness through market opportunity sizing, HCP targeting, and performance tracking
- Develop predictive models, clustering algorithms, and causal inference analyses using pharmaceutical commercial data
- Partner with brand, marketing, and sales teams to frame business questions and measure initiative impact
- Identify and pilot AI opportunities grounded in commercial business needs and drive cross-functional adoption
Requirements
- 5+ years pharmaceutical or healthcare commercial analytics, marketing analytics, or data science
- Expertise in machine learning and statistics for HCP targeting, segmentation, and predictive modeling
- Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical commercial data sources and business models
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, R, and platforms such as Databricks or Dataiku
- Hands-on experience applying AI tools including generative AI and LLM-based solutions
- Ability to translate complex analyses into actionable recommendations for senior leadership
- People or matrix leadership experience managing cross-functional and global teams
