Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with cardiovascular and robotics experience for a 12-week travel assignment at a Level III Trauma acute care hospital in Texas, requiring the ability to circulate across multiple surgical specialties.

• Acute care hospital OR setting at a Level III Trauma Center
• Unit covers multiple surgical specialties including Cardiovascular (CV), Neuro, Ortho, General, Eyes, Endo, and Cysto
• CV cases include CABGs, TCARs, and Carotids; scrubbing experience is a plus but not required
• Neuro cases include Craniotomies, TLIFs, Laminectomies, and Discectomies
• Ortho cases include trauma, Total Shoulders, Total Knees, Total Hips, and ORIFs
• General cases include Lap Choles, Colectomies, Hernias, Open Belly, and trauma using the DaVinci robot
• Additional cases include Vitrectomies, ERCPs, Colonoscopies, EGDs, Cystoscopies, Stent Placements, and TURPs
• Unit utilizes both the Mako robot (Ortho) and DaVinci robot (General, Urology, and CV)
• EMR: MEDITECH
• Day shift, Mon–Fri, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM
• On-call required: one evening per week (3 PM–7 AM) and 2 Saturdays or Sundays per month (7 AM–7 AM); standard 30-minute response time required
• Floating between two campuses (approximately 16 minutes apart) may be required

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active, pending licenses not accepted
• Certifications required: BLS and ACLS (both AHA); pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 5 years of OR experience strongly preferred; candidates with fewer than 4 years will not be considered
• Cardiovascular OR experience required, including ability to circulate CABGs
• Neuro OR experience required, including Craniotomies (frequent on-call cases)
• Robotics experience required — both Mako and DaVinci robot experience; Mako experience may be preferred but not strictly required
• Experience circulating across all surgical specialties listed
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidate must be able to circulate in all surgical specialties covered by the unit
• May be asked to precept staff as needed
• Call-outs are strongly discouraged and may result in termination
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• 12-hour orientation provided
• An interview with the unit manager is part of the selection process
