Job Title

Registered Nurse – Telemetry (Float Pool)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a float pool capacity, with the ability to be reassigned to different departments, units, or facilities as needed based on qualifications
• Deliver telemetry and stepdown-level nursing care to acutely ill patients in a teaching hospital environment
• Care for patients recovering from procedures such as biopsies and other acute care interventions
• May be assigned to support boarded patients in the ED and/or assist with related tasks
• May be assigned to support boarded patients in the PACU
• Complete required non-billable orientation modules prior to start and annually as required

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license (must be in hand at time of submittal)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Minimum 2.5 years of recent, consistent TCU/Stepdown/PCU experience as a home unit (float experience alone does not satisfy this requirement)
• Teaching hospital experience required
• No first-time travelers; prior travel nursing experience required
• All prior employment with any University of California medical facility or affiliated/acquired facilities must be disclosed at time of submittal, including dates worked, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
• 2 professional references from most recent employer required at time of submittal
• All requested time off must be disclosed at time of submittal; RTO requires manager approval and may not be requested within the first two weeks of the assignment
• Local candidates are welcome and are subject to the same rates as traveling candidates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience caring for acute care patients recovering from procedures (e.g., biopsies)
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
