Salary: $28.00 per hour
Location: Onsite 5 days a week
The Residential Life Skills Lead, (RLSL) provides trauma-informed, housing-first leadership and oversight to
the Residential Life Skills Specialists Team supporting Transitional Age Youth (TAY), ages 18–24, who are
homeless or at risk of homelessness in Marin County. This role operates in partnership with Marin County
Department of Health and Human Services within Marin’s Transitional Housing Program model.
The Residential Life Skills Lead will help create an environment where young adults experience safety,
connection, empowerment, and hope, where staff receive reflective supervision, guidance, and consistent
support. This role blends staff supervision, residential operations, quality assurance, and hands-on support
during crises to ensure a healthy, safe, and emotionally attuned residential environment.
Trauma-Informed Practice Expectations
• The RLSL integrates trauma-informed practice into all leadership and oversight functions by modeling and
reinforcing the following core principles:
• Safety & Trust: Maintain predictable, emotionally safe environments and support staff responses that
reduce stress and build trust.
PROGRAM & POSITION SUMMARY

Clear, Calm Communication: Model transparency, consistency, and respectful, regulated communication.
Young Adult Voice & Choice: Promote meaningful choice, shared decision-making, and active listening.
Curiosity Over Punishment: Guide staff toward restorative, non-punitive, problem-solving responses.
Emotional Regulation Support: Model grounding and co-regulation while coaching staff to respond with
empathy and presence.
Strengths-Based Practice: Recognize resilience and progress and ensure dignity-affirming, neutral
documentation.
Cultural Humility: Affirm identities, promote inclusion, and engage in ongoing learning and self-reflection.
Reflective Leadership: Participate in reflective supervision and foster collaboration and continuous
improvement.
Oversight of Residential Common Area (Milieu) & 24/7 Support Model
Maintain staffing schedules that ensure consistent 24/7 supportive presence. Oversee shift handovers
and ensure accurate, trauma-informed documentation. Support daily routines, house meetings, safety
checks, and community-building. Promote physical, emotional, and psychological safety in the
residential environment.
Program Operations, Safety, & Contract Compliance
Ensure county contract and agency requirements are met. Oversee emergency protocols and incident
escalation procedures. Review and approve incident reports for tone, accuracy, and trauma-informed
framing. Ensure timely 24-hour funder notifications and 48-hour incident report submissions.
Monitoring, Evaluation, & Quality Assurance
Review monthly data, including behavioral trends, skill-building progress, and documentation quality.
Recommend program improvements based on YAA recommendations. • Participate in contractor
monitoring visits, audits, and quality improvement efforts.
Young Adult-Centered Team Collaboration
Ensure staff support youth ISPs and Housing Stabilization Plans consistently. Facilitate communication
between staff, clinicians, housing case managers, and partners. Promote warm handoffs and
coordinated support across the care team.
Crisis Management Leadership
Provide calm, trauma-informed leadership during crises. Support staff in applying de-escalation and
grounding strategies. Participate in post-incident debriefs to identify learning and improvement
opportunities.
Staff Training & Professional Development
Participate in ongoing training including trauma-informed care, de-escalation, cultural humility, and
documentation. Oversee the onboarding of Residential Life Skills Specialists. Promote reflective
practice, self-care, and staff wellness.
Relationship-Building & Young Adult Empowerment Culture
Help cultivate a community where young adults feel respected, supported, and empowered. Model
communication strategies that strengthen trust and inclusion. Encourage shared responsibility,
community voice, and young adult leadership.

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• 1-3 years’ experience within the field of residential and/or community-based services for youth
• 1-3 years of experience supervising staff.
• Ability to teach independent living skills.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Understanding the needs of the unhoused young adults or youth.
• Ability to supervise others, and display healthy leadership skills
• Strong grounding in trauma-informed, healing-centered, culturally responsive practice.
• Ability to remain calm and attuned during crises.
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to coach and supervise staff through reflective practice.
• Cultural humility; ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
• Consistent with supporting agency policies, philosophy, and ethics.
• Ability to communicate with emergency services, law enforcement, and community providers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft 365, the Internet, and e-mail.
• Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent
services and work effectively in cross-cultural situations.

• Is responsible for accurate and timely data entry that aids Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI)
reporting and case record reviews.
• Is responsible for accurate and timely submission of case records.
• Serves on a quarterly case record review committee for Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI)
reporting.
• Serves on department or program Performance and Quality Improvement PQI Committee responsible for
monitoring goals and reporting.
