Job Description Job DescriptionIncrease your chances of reaching the interview stage by reading the complete job description and applying promptly.POSITION SUMMARYComposite Technician III is a hands-on role, whose primary responsibility is performing a wide variety of composite plying, layup, fabrication, and assembly tasks. Additionally Composite Technician Level III will be responsible for the mentoring and training of Level I and II composite technicians.POSITION DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITESEngineering blueprint interpretationRead and interpret work instructions and work orders.Mold surface preparation and maintenance.Composites material kitting.Perform lamination of pre-preg and wet Lay-up of composite materials.Assemble multi-piece/complex molds to yield conforming composite structures.Perform vacuum bagging operations of large composite structures.Complete trimming operations, yielding close tolerances, using fixtures and various hand tools.Performs composite lamination using VRTM & RTM techniques.Performs composite lamination using wet layup techniques.Lamination of complex structures using smart tooling techniquesAssist management in the mentoring/training of production employees.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSHigh attention to detail: Multiple pieces makes up the overall layup of parts. Each must be placed accurately and oriented correctly. Must be able to quickly spot and address flaws in raw material.Hand dexterity/coordination: Job requires a lot of specific finger movements and hand layup techniques.Organization: Must be able to keep track of various parts during processCleanliness: Parts can be sensitive to foreign materials, must be able to keep a clean workspace.Safety-Minded: Team needs people who are putting safety first and realize how important it is to take care of certain machinery/equipment.Writing Comprehension: Important to be able to read and comprehend the work instructions and job orders that will be handled.Computer Literacy: Team members will have to use several computer interfaces to record and manage production as they layup production parts.Advanced level engineering blueprint interpretationResin Infusion, wet layup and smart tooling work experience is a must.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEEducation:High school diploma or equivalentExperience:Must have 3-4 years of composite experience (Required)PHYSICAL DEMANDSN (Not Applicable) Activity is not applicable to this position.O (Occasionally) Position requires activity up to 33% of the time (0 - 2.5+ hrs/day)F (Frequently) Position requires activity from 33% - 66% of the time (2.5 - 5.5+ hrs/day)C (Constantly) Position requires activity more than 66% of the time (5.5+ hrs/day)Physical DemandsLift/Carry10 lbs or less O11-20 lbs O21-50 lbs O51-100 lbs NOver 100 lbs NPush/Pull12 lbs or less O13-25 lbs O26-40 lbs O41-100 lbs OOther Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis for up to twelve (12) hours.Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, pushing, and pulling of materials.Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.Visual acuity skill to detect any flaws in the parts being inspected.Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Required Safety GlassesWORK ENVIRONMENTThis position requires an on-site presence. Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment and may be noisy at times.
