Description We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager who can confidently navigate complex environmental and regulatory challenges. Must be a self-starter with strong initiative and ability to work independently and be able to meet the challenge of keeping current with all applicable changes in regulations and the possible impact they may have on the facility. Must possess good oral and written communication skills and be proficient with key software tools including Microsoft Office, NDEP, and EPA reporting platforms. Requirements The incumbent must possess comprehensive knowledge of the various specializations required to ascertain that the facility is operating within the regulatory and permit requirements for pollution levels of the affected air, land, water in addition to current environmental laws and regulations as they relate to company operations and equipment. Responsibilities include preparing and updating various permit applications, developing and finalizing periodic reports for timely submission to the corresponding agencies. It is essential to develop and maintain good working relationships with personnel at the local and state agencies as well as being able to have working knowledge of federal regulations and requirements. The incumbent will act in a liaison capacity with other departments and organizations (both internal and external to the facility). This position provides guidance in analyzing or performing complex procedures. Frequent inspections of the work site, monitoring devices, or instruments must be made. Recommendations for improving environmental control activities are detailed to management for action and approval. Project leadership is a key function, as the incumbent will fully support construction and utility projects work plans and subsequent closure reports, which must be completed in accordance with Nevada Environmental Response Trust (NERT) Site Management Plan (SMP). A working knowledge of chemical engineering is required to assist in the design and modification of pollution control equipment and monitoring procedures. Responsibilities Monitors air, water and solid waste discharge to ensure compliance with permit requirements and environmental regulations. Inspects pollution control devices for accuracy and efficiency. Prepares and updates applications. Submits periodic reports to assure compliance and continuance of operating permits. Analyzes environmental data and prepares thorough reports. Meets with and recommends substantive changes to upper management. Provides information, training and guidance to other environmental specialists or operating personnel regarding environmental requirements and techniques. Evaluates current programs and advises of the impact of current environmental regulations on operations. Assessing and establishes priorities for implementation of multiple programs/projects. Participates with management in determining the necessary response to regulatory changes. Maintains current knowledge of changing regulatory and permit requirements. Assesses trends and proposed legislation for possible impact. Attends training sessions, industry associations or, by other means keeps abreast of current industry trends and knowledge. Education and Experience Position requires a B.S. degree in engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred), Chemistry or Environmental Science (or equivalent experience) with a minimum of 5 years related work experience and typically 8-10 years of work in the chemical industry. Relatable experience will be considered in lieu of formal education. Professional certification is preferred. Project leadership must be demonstrated. Comprehensive knowledge of environmental laws and regulations (e.g. SARA title III, Tittle V permit, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, etc.) is required. Must have a valid Nevada Class C Driver’s License at time of appointment. Working Conditions Attend meetings and respond to emergency situations outside of normal working hours. May occasionally work with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and substances found in an inorganic chemical processing facility May occasionally work outside in all weather conditions. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 annually DOE plus excellent benefits that commence on date of hire including, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), vacation, and 10 paid holidays per year.
