Illinois CancerCare Medical Office AssistantIllinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our clinical team at the Peoria clinic. The MOA is responsible for assisting providers with clinical duties related to patient care and works directly with RNs, APNs, and physicians in both exam and treatment room settings.Pay & BenefitsHiring Pay Range: $15.00-$22.00 per hour (Based on experience, education, and other factors)Medical, dental, and vision insurance (multiple plan options)Special wellness programs – Maven, HingeHealth, Livongo, Vitality, and Wondr401(k) retirement plan with employer contributionsCompany-paid life, short-term, and long-term disability insuranceHealth Savings Account (HSA) & Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)Paid time off and holidaysEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Discounts through our Perks ProgramResponsibilitiesWhat You'll DoEscort patients to exam rooms and maintain clinic flow for scheduled visits.Record vital signs, height, and weight in the electronic medical record (EMR).Review and update patient medication lists at each visit.Assist with patient preparation for exams and minor diagnostic procedures.Clean and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and medical equipment.Order and manage clinical supplies and equipment.Ensure lab reports are recorded in the patient chart; request external results as needed.Support nursing staff in the treatment room and assist with patient needs, including IV removal.Travel to satellite clinic locations as needed.Perform additional clinical and clerical duties as requested.Adhere to HIPAA policies, the ILCC employee handbook, and code of conduct.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredThree years of experience in a healthcare organization preferredCertified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nurse's Assistant (CNA) preferredSPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSRequires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds.Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, stooping.SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS/TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONSThe employee has limited exposure to toxic substances and is expected to be familiar with the dangers and proper handling of such.The employee is exposed to communicable diseases and other conditions common to the clinical environment.Safety policies and good health practices are to be understood and observed.Work is performed in an office environment with frequent contact with staff and patients.Work may be repetitious, and in a high-stress environment.Contact may involve dealing with angry and/or upset people.
