Neuro-Ophthalmologist

$225k

University of Maryland, Baltimore

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a fellowship-trained, BC/BE full-time or part-time faculty member in the area of Neuro-Ophthalmology. Expected faculty rank for this position is Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be dependent upon selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. Both clinician-educators and clinician-scientists are welcome to apply. The qualified applicant will be expected to provide outstanding clinical care and participate actively in the residency training program. With the clinical practice extending from our main campus downtown (including the Veterans Affairs Medical Center) to some of our suburban locations, a very comprehensive and diverse patient population awaits. There are extensive research opportunities both within and across the School’s departments. Laboratory space and resources in the Department are available for individuals with a research interest. The campus is ideally situated in the heart of downtown Baltimore, steps from Camden Yards and M&T Bank Stadium and just minutes from the Inner Harbor, National Aquarium, and Maryland Science Center. Baltimore offers a rich cultural scene with world-class museums, symphony and performing arts, acclaimed dining, and passionate professional sports—paired with the character and history of a classic American city. The broader Baltimore–Washington, D.C. region provides exceptional lifestyle flexibility. Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City are all easily accessible, while Atlantic beaches to the east and mountain getaways to the west make weekend escapes effortless. The area features outstanding public and private schools, diverse and welcoming neighborhoods, and a wide range of living options—from historic urban communities to suburban and waterfront settings—making it an ideal place for individuals and families alike. Expected salary range for Assistant Professors is $225,000 (min) and $325,000 (max). The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the departmental faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental variable compensation programs. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein. For more information, please contact the hiring department. The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University. UMB offers a comprehensive benefits package that prioritizes wellness, work/life balance, and professional development. This position participates in a retirement program that must be selected and is effective on your date of hire. Faculty receive a generous leave package that includes over 4 weeks of vacation accrued each year, paid holidays, personal leave, unlimited accrual of sick time, and comprehensive health insurance; professional learning and development programs; tuition remission for employees and their dependents at any University System of Maryland school.
