Registered Nurse – Bronson Battle Creek Hospital (Battle Creek, MI) Bronson Battle Creek Hospital is hiring compassionate, skilled Registered Nurses to join our inpatient teams. We offer full‑time, part‑time and PRN opportunities with 12‑hour shifts and weekend rotations, supporting nurses across a variety of care settings. Inpatient Units with Opportunities Emergency Department: 39‑bed, high‑volume department serving Calhoun and surrounding counties with approximately 160 patients per day. Team‑based care model with provider, RN and tech support, plus on‑site pharmacy and case management. Focus on quality, throughput and patient experience. Float Pool: Experienced RNs who provide staffing support across multiple inpatient units, maintaining a broad range of clinical skills and adaptability. General Medical Unit / CDU: 37‑bed cardiac and pulmonary unit plus a 10‑bed Clinical Decision Unit specializing in chest pain evaluation and short‑term observation. Neurovascular / Orthopedic Unit: 30‑bed unit caring for neurological and orthopedic patients, including total joint replacement through the Orthopedic Renewal Center. Oncology / Medical / Surgical Unit: 37‑bed unit providing care for a diverse patient population, including medical, oncology and surgical patients. Observation Unit: New 14‑bed short‑stay unit requiring independent practice, strong self‑accountability, critical thinking and excellent communication and customer service skills. Obstetrics (OB) – Labor & Delivery / Antepartum / Mother‑Baby: Combined obstetric unit supporting mothers and babies across the full continuum of care, including high‑risk antepartum monitoring, labor and delivery, postpartum recovery and newborn care in a family‑centered environment. Coordinate care provided by other professionals and delegate tasks within the scope of nursing practice and based on the abilities of patient care assistants and universal service assistants. Provide selected aspects of physical care within scope, document and communicate patient response to care during each tour of duty, including consumption of resources and anticipated needs. Demonstrate competencies specific to the population served and continually improve practice through participation in quality improvement activities. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop individualized interventions and coordinate discharge planning when outcomes are not achieved. Maintain professional knowledge through ongoing educational activities, professional records and engagement in peer review and nursing councils. Communicate effectively in writing and electronically, ensuring all documentation meets institutional policies and standards. Serve as a patient advocate, preserving patient autonomy, dignity and confidentiality. Participate in leadership activities such as unit staff meetings, nursing committees and the creation of a healthy work environment. Qualifications Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred and must be obtained within eight years of hire. Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan. BLS required at completion of core orientation; Critical Care or ALS may be required for certain units. Specific to Labor & Delivery and Mother‑Baby/Antepartum: Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification through PQF or NCC required within six months of completing intermediate fetal monitoring. Current driver’s license in the state of Michigan and proof of insurance required for benefits eligibility. Ability to read, interpret and analyze data from various computer systems to plan appropriate interventions. Strong verbal, written and electronic communication skills. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle heavy equipment as required by the role. Demonstrated ability to manage mental and visual fatigue associated with prolonged computer use and high‑acuity patient care situations.
