Clinical Dietitian (NS)
Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for multiple Clinical Dietitian positions. These positions are responsible for providing individualized nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy for patients with a wide variety of acute and chronic illnesses/conditions. This position has routine patient contact on various psychiatric care units and treatment care areas which requires travel to various areas throughout the Broughton Hospital campus. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and have strong organizational skills. This individual is a solution finder, works well with others, and has excellent communication skills when speaking with patients and staff. Key responsibilities include, but are limited to:
- Conducting nutritional assessments
- Providing consultation to various disciplines
- Documenting in patient charts for your assigned caseload
- Participating on Treatment Teams
- Providing nutrition education and training
- Working on performance improvement processes and other support duties throughout the department as assigned or needed
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $52,848.00 - $79,272.00
Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
- Current Registration, in good standing, by the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR)
Management prefers candidates with the following:
- Experience assessing and/or providing nutrition care for patients
- Experience providing education on proper nutrition practices
Conditional Requirements: Selected applicants must be able to pass a State Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check, and complete and pass BLS/CPR training and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training during orientation.
This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)
This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

There are two (2) schedule options for this position; however, flexibility is required for training purposes and to meet hospital needs:
- Monday through Thursday from 7:00am to 5:30pm or
- Tuesday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:30pm
- PLEASE NOTE: During hospital orientation, the schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm
About the Facility:
Broughton Hospital is one of the three regional psychiatric hospitals with statutory responsibility for operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). With the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, we provide help and support to North Carolinians, and their families, experiencing mental illness. Our hospital serves the western thirty-seven (37) counties of North Carolina, as part of the state's system of care and treatment for persons with mental illness.

Veteran's and National Guard Preference

Master's degree in foods and nutrition or a related area from an appropriately accredited institution that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and current registration, in good standing, administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR); or Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics, or related area from an appropriately accredited institution that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and current registration, in good standing, administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and two years of experience in a clinical dietary setting.
