Clinical Pharmacist - Nights 7on / 7off, Inpatient Operations

Provides pharmacy services and ensures the appropriate selection, dosing, administration, and dispensing of medication orders.

This role is eligible for a sign on bonus of $10,000 to $15,000 and up to $5,000 in relocation reimbursement. The Inpatient Pharmacy at Main Campus supports 60 Nursing Units, 80 Operating Rooms, 4 PACUs and 10 Cath Labs. As a Clinical Pharmacist in these areas, you will ensure patients receive their prescriptions accurately, timely and respectfully. You will appropriately select, dose, administer and dispense medications as indicated, helping provide the treatments they need to improve their health and well-being. Caregivers work a 7-on/7-off schedule from Monday night through the following Monday morning. Shifts are 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Holidays that fall during a scheduled on-week are worked. There is no on-call requirement; however, caregivers carry a pager while on site.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered, evidence-based medication services.
• Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations.
• Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
• Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with national accreditation standards.
• Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences.
• Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• PharmD or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days (for individuals required to administer immunizations)
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. For caregivers required to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest, this is required within one year of hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Board certification
• Completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1), fellowship or 2 years of relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience
• Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience for Clinical Pharmacists hired in Critical Care or Pharmacotherapy
• 3-4 years of direct critical care experience

Physical Requirements:

• Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
• Must have normal or corrected vision.
• Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
