Job Description Job Description We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care to children, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience for our young patients. This position requires a strong understanding of pediatric dentistry, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Duties * Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are prepared and available and charting is accurate. * Perform coronal polishing during hygiene visits. * Take and record vital signs and intraoral/panoramic radiographs of patients prior to treatment and during hygiene visits. * Provide chairside assistance during dental procedures, including preventative, restorative, and surgical procedures. * Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records using Dentrix. * Educate patients and their guardians on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. * Maintain dental equipment and sterilize dental instruments using an ultrasonic cleaner and autoclave. * Ensure the dental clinic is clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations. * Manage appointment scheduling and follow-up visits for pediatric patients. * Communicate effectively with children to alleviate anxiety and foster a welcoming environment. * Monitor inventory and notify when restocking is necessary in a timely manner * Skills * Proficient in pediatric dentistry practices and techniques. * Strong understanding of medical terminology, dental terminology, and medical documentation processes. * Experience with Dentrix or similar dental electronic health record systems is preferred. * Ability to provide comforting care to anxious children with patience and understanding * Excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with children and their families. * Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to maintain accurate patient records. * Knowledge of general dentistry principles is beneficial. * Familiarity with pediatrics is an asset.
