Job Description
The Onsite Medical Representative supports the Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) team by delivering high-quality onsite first aid care, promoting health and wellness, and helping maintain a safe working environment for all associates. In this role, you independently assess and administer first aid, guide associates on occupational and non-occupational injuries or illnesses, and coordinate care with external medical providers when needed. You collaborate closely with WHS leadership and other safety professionals, participate in safety committees and case management reviews, and contribute to proactive injury prevention and wellness initiatives across the site.
Responsibilities
- Independently assess associates’ injuries or illnesses and provide appropriate first aid support in accordance with established protocols.
- Refer associates to outside medical providers when care needs extend beyond onsite first aid capabilities.
- Minimize the risk of injury to associates through ongoing awareness, education, and proactive engagement on the operations floor.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all care provided to associates.
- Coordinate and manage workers’ compensation and return-to-work programs for associates with work-related injuries.
- Prepare and submit daily activity logs and end-of-shift reports to support consistent documentation and communication.
- Engage regularly with associates and site leadership on the operations floor to provide coaching on observed at-risk work habits and safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean and orderly medical work area, ensuring appropriate inventory levels of medical supplies and equipment.
- Participate in training and certification activities to facilitate first aid, CPR, and AED certification classes for associates.
- Maintain current first aid, CPR, and AED credentials in accordance with certifying body requirements.
- Work flexible shifts, which may include days, nights, holidays, and weekends, based on site needs.
- Assist with the implementation and execution of random saliva drug testing protocols in alignment with site policies.
- Maintain effective care delivery during emergencies and support onsite emergency response efforts as needed.
- Attend weekly associate safety committee meetings and greet new hires to promote safety, health, and wellness from day one.
- Participate in weekly case management review meetings as required to support follow-up and continuity of care.
- Assist the broader onsite team with first aid needs and support safety operations and WHS initiatives as needed.
- Continuously climb and descend stairs at sites where stair access is required.
- Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach while performing job duties.
- Stand and walk for up to 12 hours during shifts in a dynamic industrial environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved emergency cardiac care provider.
- Current valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic certification from a Department of Health or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).
- Ability to obtain an adult First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within three weeks of starting if not already held.
- Capability to provide first aid care confidently and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining medical and safety records.
- Ability to coordinate workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Physical ability to lift up to 49 pounds, frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach, and stand or walk for up to 12 hours.
- Comfort working in environments with variable noise levels, temperatures, and weather conditions, including areas such as outside loading departments.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, holidays, and weekends as required.
- Certification to teach first aid, CPR, and AED training from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation, reporting, and communication.
- Experience working within an industrial wellness program or similar occupational health setting.
- Experience managing musculoskeletal disorders, ergonomics, and coaching associates on proper body mechanics.
- Demonstrated work experience with OSHA regulations and workers’ compensation processes.
- Proficiency in digital record management and electronic documentation systems.
- Recent (within the last year) experience in a military medical role such as Combat Medic, Field Medic, Healthcare Specialist, Hospital Corpsman, or Aerospace Medical Service Technician.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with associates and leadership.
- Demonstrated commitment to health, wellness, and injury prevention in the workplace.
This role is based onsite in an industrial operations setting in Pooler, GA, working as part of a collaborative Workplace Health & Safety team. You will spend significant time on the operations floor interacting with associates and leadership, as well as in a designated medical area where you provide first aid and maintain medical supplies. The environment includes variable noise levels and exposure to changing temperatures and weather conditions, particularly in areas such as outside loading departments. The position requires standing and walking for up to 12 hours per shift, frequent lifting up to 49 pounds, and regular pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, reaching, and stair climbing where applicable. Training is typically scheduled Monday through Friday from 07:30 to 17:00, and ongoing shifts may vary and can include days, nights, holidays, and weekends depending on operational needs. You will use medical equipment for first aid, CPR, and AED response, as well as digital tools and Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
