Position Overview


The successful candidate will provide engaging music instruction to elementary and middle school students, helping them develop an appreciation for music, singing, rhythm, performance, and artistic expression. The ideal candidate will inspire students to recognize beauty as a gift from God and foster a lifelong love of music.


As a Catholic school, we believe that sacred music plays a unique role in worship and faith formation. Candidates who can lead music for school Masses, prayer services, concerts, and other school celebrations are especially encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Commitment to supporting the Catholic mission of the school
• Passion for music education and working with children
• Strong instructional skills and classroom management abilities
• Desire to share the joy, beauty, and goodness of music with students

Preferred:

• Teaching experience in music education
• Experience directing choirs or vocal ensembles
• Ability to accompany singers on piano, guitar, or another instrument
• Experience leading music for Catholic liturgies or other worship services
• Virginia teaching license or eligibility for licensure

Please Note: Teacher certification is not required for employment. We welcome qualified candidates who are not yet certified and will provide support and guidance through the certification process.

Responsibilities

• Teach music classes to students in grades K-8
• Foster an appreciation for music through singing, listening, movement, rhythm, and performance
• Help students develop musical skills, confidence, and creativity
• Prepare students for concerts, performances, and school programs
• Collaborate with faculty and administration to support school events and celebrations
• Integrate Catholic values into instruction and classroom culture
• Support the mission and life of the school community
