Additional Job Description: The West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking an Ophthalmologist to join our practice in Wheeling, WV (rank available: Assistant, Associate, Professor). Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of comprehensive ophthalmology. In addition to providing excellent patient care, he or she will also be involved in teaching allied health professionals. Qualifications: Applicants must have an MD or DO foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain a state medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited ophthalmology residency program be board certified/eligible in ophthalmology. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. Wheeling Hospital has served the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia, Eastern Ohio and parts of Pennsylvania longer than any other hospital in the state. It was founded in 1850 by Bishop Richard V.
