Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver. The RN assumes responsibility for a designated group of patients. Care is provided utilizing the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources. Responsibilities include performing all duties specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Accurate documentation of nursing care is maintained. Initial assessments are completed upon patient admission. The RN develops appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs. Plans of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures are implemented. Plans of care are modified based on continuous evaluation. Patient and employee safety is prioritized by reporting and correcting safety hazards. Constructive feedback is offered to assist in the professional development of peers. The RN confers with colleagues to expand their knowledge base. Identifying and addressing personal learning needs is essential. All departmental competencies must be fulfilled.
