Engineering Manager, Continuous Fleet Transformation and Optimization

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience in the technology industry, including 4 years of experience managing software developers, systems administrators, or systems architects. Experience designing and implementing distributed systems. Experience programming in one of the following: Java, C++, Python or C. Preferred Qualifications 14 years of experience in the technology industry, including 4 years of direct technical management experience of software developers and systems administrators or architects. Experience in Mathematics or operations research. Experience with Unix/Linux environments. Experience with database internals, database language theories, database design, SQL and database programming. Responsibilities Guide a full‑stack team through technical issues towards our mission of scalable and efficient machine and infrastructure planning for Google’s data centers. Work closely with the brilliant minds in the Operations Decision Support, Operations Research, and Discrete Algorithms teams. Help scale Google’s infrastructure by learning how Google manages the fleet with speed, agility, and efficiency. Collaborate with many infrastructure software and operational teams within Cloud and TI such as Colossus, GIG, ODS, Operations Research, and Optimal Fleet. Explore machine‑learning options to support fleet management, with a long‑term vision of an all‑knowing neural network.
